Summary
Jamil is afraid. He does not admit to himself, but he is terribly afraid that next time they will replace him. And he and Kalim will never see each other again. And he won't even remember him, like a hundred others– he'll even forget his name.
Nonsense. It's all damned nonsense! Yes, Jamil will be glad if Kalim finally gets rid of him! Then he will be freed from this burdensome work, from these feelings!
(No, it won't be released. These feelings were scarier than a slave collar, because they were not attached to a chain).

Summary
For the majority of Jamil's life, he knew only darkness. Occasionally there would be a short interval where darkness and light clashed, but he'd never paid much mind to it. He was alone, left by himself in the nocturn, for night was his shadow that he couldn't shake off.
For the majority of Kalim's life, he bathed in his own light, his appreciation never once ceasing. Whenever his light met the darkness, he would look for the owner of the crystal orb hanging in the sky. His luck was rotten though, as he hadn't once succeeded. So he simply walked along, looking forward to every possible encounter.
