Summary
James curls an arm around Regulus’ waist, pulling him close. Regulus wishes it felt as good as it normally does.
He still cuddles into James, head in the crook of James’ neck. After a while, he murmurs, “I miss you.”
“I’m right here,” James says. There’s no emotion in his tone, nothing that says, I miss you too. It’s simply, why miss me when I’m right here, dummy?
The tears that prick at Regulus’ eyes are sudden and unwelcome. He has to bury his head further into James, forcing himself to hold back a shuddering breath that wants to escape. Regulus almost regrets coming here entirely, finding that he only feels worse.
