Obito was dead, had been dead for nearly a year now.
Life moved on. Time passed, missions continued, the village prospered. But for team 7, team Minato, everything died. Rin had taken extended time off missions and didn’t appear to be returning anytime soon. Minato was hokage, a feat he should have danced with joy to achieve but had been accepted as another mission to carry out. Kushina had put it upon her own shoulders to hold everyone together, to force Minato out of bed and to the office everyday, to stop by Rin’s place when she could for tea and a chat. Kakashi…
Kakashi was in pain. Everyone knew it, recited it as if believing it enough would make the bite of his cruel words lesser, the venom in his every spiteful action sting a little more bearable.No one understood it. No one knew how to comprehend it.
Obito: feral and warped with scars, hair wild and eyes frantic. He was erratic; animalistic.
Where he’s been, how he survived and what had happened to him became a mystery of the upmost importance as whatever took him endangers the village as it attempts to reclaim him. However Obito’s broken and disoriented state of mind poses a difficult challenge.

Ever since waking up as the future villain, Obito Uchiha, he had done everything to stop the horrible future from occurring. Then he finally stops Madara's plan and defeats Zetsu. However, his job is not done as other threats are still on the horizon threatening his dear friends and family. So obito heads out on a journey to stop said threats while making friends with the past Akatsuki and some future villains. And if he decides to adopt some of the Akatsuki (It doesn't matter that some are older than him) or hug the baby jinchurikis, then that is his business.
(This is the second part of the Red Eye Series, so it is highly recommended that you read the first book, or many things will not make sense)

A smile slowly spreads across Minato’s face, ominous. “Your mission is to infiltrate Akatsuki, a notorious crime organization. Find out how they work and relate back any information to help us stop their illegal trades, and ultimately,” the man pauses as Kakashi watches him with apprehension. “Your goal is to get close enough to Akatsuki’s boss, Uchiha Obito, to nail him right in the head. He’s caught, and the Superintendent position is all yours.”
