Clarissa’s window faced the other school. An hour past curfew, there were just a few lights on. The Never students slept extremely fast compared to the Ever students. She never understood why, but she supposed it had something to do with the whole Evil thing going on there. The few lights that were still shining brightly were those of the teachers. It took about an hour for those lights to go off, too. And then there was only one remaining.

After the events of the movie, the school is set to pick up the pieces of their foundation of good and evil. What do they fall back on? A ball! Clarissa Dovey invited Leonora Lesso as her date so they can stand united in front of the whole school. However nothing goes as planned, everything is a struggle, and Leonora Lesso is stuck in her old ways. She is struggling with her own understanding of good and evil as well as navigating her own feelings towards Evers, especially one in particular.

Summary
After the events of the movie, the School for Good and Evil needs a reform. This calls for Professor Dovey and Lady Lesso to work together and stand united, but that is easier said than done - especially with neither of them willing to budge. Although Lesso doesn't like Dovey's smiles, and Dovey takes offence at Lesso's negligent attitude, they both soon face an important rule of fairy tales: What belongs together, will be together, whether they like it or not.
