NGC Recs Fiction Within Fiction
Stories where you also get bits from an in-universe story or stories. This may be where a character is an author or devoted reader and we get snippets from the stories, or actors playing out a scene, or characters playing a video game with a storyline. (This may include virtual worlds and transmigration if the story engages enough with the fiction of the world.)
Sometimes a fic will be here that might not have the story within the story part, but it’s so much about fiction, I think it qualifies anyway.

Summary
Shang Qinghua accidentally summons Luo Binghe from the Abyss early, throwing off the plot entirely and coming face to face with his protagonist who has not been made stronger by trauma. After saving him from touching a fuck-or-die flower at the ripe age of 17, Shang Qinghua realizes if he's going to get the plot back on track (and avoid the System killing him) he'll need to actually teach Luo Binghe about the demon realm, the messed up sex flowers, and maybe even help him get over his trauma.
He might also have to teach some demons accounting in order to make it up to Mobei-jun, and confront how treating women as trophies has messed up consequences, how trauma does not make people stronger as PIDW promised and how his own alienation from his world might actually be fucking up his life. But hey, that'll be fine! If he fails, he'll just die!

Summary
Life was not bad for a male spouse in Lord Luo's harem, at least not according to Shen Yuan. Like the other male spouses, he was only there as a political match, but it gave him a comfortable life and it wasn't as though he needed romance to survive. Plus he got the entertainment of tearing apart the writings of Shang Qinghua, which was always fun. Until the day that Shen Yuan is poisoned, and then finds himself waking up in a fast paced modern world with no cultivation but many familiar faces.
Luo Binghe has everything he could possibly want from life, but after seeing the crybaby version of himself and the strangely kind Shizun, he can't help feeling like maybe something is missing afterall. It doesn't help that he gets home to find one of his spouses stuck in a coma, and he must go search for Shen Yuan's soul before it has been separated from the body for too long.
