Knives had never understood Vash’s love for humanity. They exploited higher powers to extend their own worthless lives, caught up in endless cycles of violence and disdain. He and Vash were above them, more advanced than most of them could even comprehend. And yet Vash steadfastly refused to accept his superiority. He let himself be maimed time and time again by creatures that depended on their kind for survival, his body littered with scars too numerous to count.

Summary
After reuniting with Vash and Wolfwood following Brad's sacrifice, Milly notices Vash has been looking down and suggests they head to the farm she grew up on to meet her parents. Her parents' assumption that Milly is dating her three friends leads to a lot of confused feelings for the group whose members have been steadily growing closer over the past days, and though they try to enjoy their day on the farm, their emotions make things complicated.
