Summary
It doesn’t make sense, really; feeling this obligation towards someone that made him hate himself for what he wasn’t. Thinking of Deku trapped and confused and in pain, makes something creak inside Katsuki. Like his bones are about to splinter. He’s thought about trying to soothe it, but the feeling is too deep to even dare reach for. What other parts of himself would he have to get through to find it? How much skin and sinew is he willing to scrape off to get to wherever and whatever this is?
Because how can he understand it, in a way that doesn’t hurt?

Once Deku disappears after the sludge villain attack, Katsuki starts to wonder if Deku really didn’t look down on him. Maybe Katsuki does owe him... something. But now, over a year later, it’s too late to pay him back.
Until they find a lead.

Shouta is happy to hear it; it really is great news, but… His eyes linger on Midoriya. He’s been stuck here for a year. A year. And it could be many more. For all he knows, the kid’s in a vegetative state, and won’t ever wake up.
‘Will I remember anything?’
Midoriya’s smile turns brittle. ‘...No.'

Summary
It was too quiet for Aizawa to be comfortable. A smooth patrol - with not so much as a pickpocket - was unheard of. Perched on the edge of a rooftop, looking over the eerily quiet city, he watched as the night started to fade into dawn. For the past half hour he’d been waiting for something to go horrifically wrong, as per the norm of his career. But nothing happened. He watched as a handful of civilians went about their lives, returning home from graveyard shifts or on their way to the early morning ones, chugging coffee or stumbling drunk. It’s a sentiment he can appreciate.
Fine. He got lucky just this once, blessed with an easy patrol, he won’t return home bloody. He could ride the high of an easy night and make it home in time for a nap before he has to teach.
That was until he saw a kid on the roof of an abandoned building, swaying precariously on the edge.
