Summary
Welcome, to Arus.
It’s twelve days north of hopeless and a few degrees south of freezing to death. It’s located solidly on the Meridian of Misery, in a small corner of the world hidden away by a mass of fog no one but the bravest of Viking’s dared to sail.
Unfortunately, those that lived on Arus didn’t quite have a choice in the matter.
See. While other islands had giant wolves and massive, bucking horses… Arus had:

Summary
Welcome, to Arus.
It’s twelve days north of hopeless and a few degrees south of freezing to death. It’s located solidly on the Meridian of Misery, in a small corner of the world called Altea.
At least, it used to be a small corner of the world.
See, while other far off islands had mosquitos the size of buildings, or wild, bucking horses, Arus had...
Allura swung the door open, not hesitating to put a foot out the door before the Red verndari flew into view with its large wings and breathed a plume of scorching red fire meters in front of their very wooden door. Lance rushed forward on instinct, yanking Allura back by the collar of her furred hood, and promptly slammed the door shut.
Lance breathed, attempting to calm his rocketing heart and a shiver ran down his spine as he met Allura’s eyes.
“Dragons.”

Summary
“Curse the Titan Lord,” Coran muttered. “He’s tricked us yet again. Given himself another way to control the prophecy.”
“What do you mean?” Lance asked, a little annoyed now. Couldn’t Coran go any faster?
“The fleece,” Coran shook his head. “The fleece has done its work too well.”

Summary
“I need you to do me a favor.” Keith said. “We’re going to be in hearing range soon.”
Lance recalled the stories about Sirens. How they’d use their honey sweet voices to lure sailors off their ships. In some stories, to drown them. In others, to eat. Lance shoved down the urge to tie himself up to make sure he couldn’t throw himself off the side of the railings.
“Yikes. Yeah, no worries, man.” Lance shook himself out. “There’s a big tub of candle wax below deck. Probably won’t feel too good but we can just plug our ears–”
“I want to hear them.”
Lance blinked. "What?!"

Summary
Lance needed to do this himself. He was the new kid. And while usually Lance could sweet talk his way out of anything with a charming smile, he had a feeling that wasn’t going to work here. He’d been in plenty of fights before when kids finally got tired of his smart mouth at school. This wasn't anything he wasn't familiar with.
Lance handed Keith his minotaur horn and got ready to fight, but before he could blink, Zethrid had him by his collar and was pulling him toward a cinder block building that Lance had a sneaking feeling might be the bathroom.
When the smell hit him, he knew he was right.
Aw, man.

Summary
Keith was settled on his knees, blood dripping down his arms from yanking at the chains. His face was scratched and stained with bloody tears. His eyes glowed a dull yellow and his pupils were slits.
He looked deranged and teetering into something forbidden and was so beautiful it hurt.
“The quintessence of a Galra-human hybrid,” Keith’s fangs glinted in a bloody smile. “Doesn’t that just make your mouth water?”
When Keith and Lance are captured by a creature that can drain any being of quintessence, both go to extreme lengths to save the other. This is a story of how you can come from feeling everything, only for it to be taken away.

Summary
The connection between them trembles as they each try and gain more control. Keith wants to destroy all the barriers between them so they can work together; Lance wants to work with him without everything they have being lost to each other. They don’t have a common ground. There’s no way that they’re ever going to be drift compatible, Lance knew it—
“We might be!” Keith shouts, reading Lance’s thoughts like they’re his own.
“We’re not!” Lance screams right back.
The tension is heavy, it’s so tight that everything feels too hot, like he’s burning and—
Everything shatters, splinters, and falls to pieces.

Summary
“What the fuck did you just call me?” Keith asks angrily, rubbing at his own hand, his eyes wide with confusion.
“I didn’t say anything!” Lance defends, gaze flicking between Keith and the mage. He genuinely doesn’t know what the hell is going on.
The mage bows lightly, clasping their hands in front of their chest. “The ritual seems to have worked as expected. Worry not, Paladins, your new bond will vanish by itself once you’ve strengthened the preexisting bond between the two of you enough.”
Lance shivers. What? What fucking bond?
Keith seems equally as bewildered when he looks back at him.
or: Keith and Lance get magically bonded against their will. Whenever they touch, they can hear each other’s thoughts.

Summary
The door opens to reveal long, black, sweat-matted hair sticking to pale skin, an achingly familiar uniform, and a truly worrying amount of blood.
He notices all these things, the minute details, the discarded crimson soaked bandages on the floor, his suture kit that’s strewn across the room, heavy breathing and shaky hands, before his mind allows him to piece it all together.
His knife clatters to the ground.
After a year of radio silence, with no warning whatsoever, Keith Kogane is bleeding out on Lance’s bathroom floor.
or: Keith gets hurt. He doesn’t know where else to go.
