Summary
His eyes struggled in the darkness, blinking rapidly as they adjusted. He couldn't really make out what he was seeing. When his vision finally cleared, he saw someone – a man – sitting crouched over a twisted tree root, shit scattered all around him. It took Eddie a moment to realize what he was looking at. The man looked to be grappling with something in his hands, a piece of string or something... of rope?
Oh, shit. Dread washed over Eddie. He glanced up quickly to identify the man. The sight was immediately sobering.
It was Steve.
