“Sure, but that doesn’t sound like the massive favour you were bigging it up to be,” Wilbur seemed hesitant, clearly worried about asking too many questions when Tommy had already warned him away from them.
“Bitch,” Tommy said fondly, relaxing into his chair and ignoring the curious glances he was getting from his teacher and social worker. “I also may need you to drive to my college and talk to some people so that I’m allowed to stay over at yours. You don’t have a criminal record, do you?”
Tommy makes a mistake that ends with his teachers finding out more about his home life than he'd ever wanted them to. Wilbur finding out was just icing on top of the pile of shit he was calling a cake.

Tommy scowled, shoving trembling hands into his pockets. "Fuck you," he shot back unevenly.
"What are you doing back so soon?" Wilbur asked curiously. "Revival not work out too well for you?"
Stiffly. "Dream killed me."
"Again?" Wilbur looked away from Tommy dismissively, shuffling his cards. "I mean, we've all had the urge, but you'd figure once would be enough."

“Hey kid, sorry I didn't see you there. How can I help you?”
The kid shoots up and he looks scared out of his mind for a second before scowling. “I’m not a fuckin’ kid,” he snaps. Wilbur laughs softly, the kids eyes are blue, they remind him of Phil.
“Right, how can I help you?”
The kids’ bristling demeanor dies down instantly and he looks suddenly much more nervous. The kids posture is shit, Wilbur notices, his shoulders are up and slouched over his chest almost protectively. He starts fidgeting with sleeves of his shirt and he quickly but quietly pulls out a five dollar bill, he slides it across the bar to Wilbur.
“Could I have a- could I get a-“ He pauses, shakes his head and looks up.
“Hamburger and sweet potato fries,” He says it with a confident voice but scared eyes and body language.or phil, techno, and wilbur own a diner and tommy becomes a regular customer. one found family arc later and they adopt him

Summary
Tommy becomes reckless as a new hero and is caught repeatedly putting himself in danger. His team is concerned, one of them so much so that he's angry with Tommy. They just don't understand why he's doing these things, and he doesn't intend to explain it to them.

Tommy is very (very) sad and he starts caring less about surviving villain fights.
