"Papa, look! I gave Coach Shane Baba's ring, and now it means you can be happy and married and we can--"
"Wait, I didn't say yes! I told you, Masha, I can't say yes." Shane jumped in to intervene before this could go any further.
"But you took the ring!" Masha argued back, incredibly reasonably.
Ilya, still blank-faced, took a long moment to look between his daughter, Shane, and the ring in Shane's hand, evaluating the arguments he was presented with.
"Well, she is right. You did take the ring." Ilya answered, straight-faced and logical, like this wasn't a ridiculous argument to be entertaining, let alone playing along with.
Youth hockey coach Shane Hollander faces a proposal from a 7-year-old, asking him to please marry her papa.
Her papa, Ilya Rozanov, commits to the bit. -

Summary
Ilya Rozanov wakes up in a future where he is openly bisexual and married. This would be great news, except for the part where moments ago he was in 2014 where he was many things: recent Stanley Cup champion, star of the Raiders, the sluttiest man in Boston, a Russian citizen with a father who is alive, and also absolutely, definitely, 100% not in love with Shane Hollander.
And why the hell is he wearing a Centaurs jersey?

Ilya Hollander-Rozanov wakes up in the past, and he really, really would like to go home to his husband.

Summary
In 2003, Shane Hollander is assigned a PenPal, and gains a friend. A friend who smokes, calls him boring, and gives him ridiculous nicknames.
Across the world, Ilya Rozanov practices his English with a curious Canadian boy whose name he can't fucking remember.
Or, before they were Canada's Shane Hollander and Russia's Ilya Rozanov, they were Cat and Elijah. Shane has no reason to suspect his childhood PenPal is his hockey rival, and Ilya has never even considered that the man he's falling for is also the boy he already fell in love with through letters and postcards.
