“I thought I recognized you from somewhere.” He says with a chuckle.
'But something about him feels off.'
He kneels next to you, his bare arm lightly brushing against yours as he holds something in your field of view. A photograph. It’s bent, dirty, and hard to see in the dark. But you recognize yourself in it. Your bright yellow shirt stood out despite the grime, the one with the sunflower pattern. The one that you had begged for. It’s a photo that Danny took with Maria’s camera the day she got it, in it the both of you were hugging each other tightly. Maria was planting a kiss on your cheek. Your fingers absentmindedly touch your face.
'Like I’ll turn around at any moment, and he’ll be there.'
Before you can take the photo, he rips it away from you and folds it. You watch as he puts it in his back pocket. He grabs your chin in between his fingers with a grin.
