Summary
Takes place right after Mugen Train/ Infinity Train. Tanjirou's nightmares and dreams have stuck to him and the phantoms of his past haunt him. Zenitsu notices Tanjirou isn't sleeping and wants to help him get past whatever pain he is dealing with.
“Zenitsu?” The cool calming voice alerted Zenitsu and he realized he had been tracing Tanjirou’s scar with his fingertips, resulting in his wake. Oh shit! The blond immediately pulled his hand back and grabbed the cloth he was using to show proof as to what he was doing, laughing awkwardly in the process. Attempted to hide his crippling anxiety that was seeped up his skin in sweats. The crimson eyes of Tanjirou examined him intently, however his tired expression did reveal his patience while waiting for the blond to give him an answer, rather than waving the cloth around. Zenitsu felt his face heat up by Tanjirou’s stare, his chest fluttering in the process. Oh dear, that was new. Or was it?
“I’m s-sorry Tanjirou! I was just cleaning you up a bit because it seems you were having a nightmare of some sort.”

What would KNY look like if worldbuilding elements like the Blue Spider Lily and Demon Marks were better utilized? What about if Nezuko actually had a development arc? How about if the Lower Demon Moons still existed and were actually relevant to the plot?
You can find all of that in what I call the “KNY Plot Rewrite” where I completely overhaul the plot to improve on the aspects that I found lacking in the canon story (so there are going to be a ton more changes besides what I mentioned earlier).
