Summary
They don’t beat the game this time either. Or the time after. Or after that. But Izuku walks out of the arcade with a smile on his face and a promise to beat it tomorrow. He thinks that he can confidently say that he may be a real, actual friend the next time All Might asks. The first time in a long time.
The universe is full of ironies, and one of them is that the lower-level player he’d played with today was All Might’s successor.
He doesn’t say it aloud. If anything, it’s given him a head-start: a connection, an already-planned meet-up later this week, a reason for All Might’s successor to trust him.
If he beats the game in the process of getting him to Sensei, he’ll count that as a benefit.
or: Tomura and Izuku are on two sides of the same deadly game; one ordered to kidnap All Might's successor and the other just hoping for a friend.

One raised brow later, Shouta remembered there was a question he was supposed to answer. He muttered something, hoping Hizashi would let it go.
“And now with words this time?” Hizashi said a small smirk dancing on his lips, and Shouta huffed.
“I said there wasn’t a guy,” he didn’t, but this was close enough. “I just-”
What was he supposed to say? Got distracted because I saw you through the window during my nightly pass by your apartment and I was overcome by the need to feel how soft your hair were ?
“...Got distracted,” he finished lamely, keeping the rest of that explanation to himself.
“By what?” Hizashi sounded incredulous, tilting his head slightly, another strand of hair falling onto his face.

“Keep it,” Shouta says, waving him off. “Just bring me the mug back by the end of the day.”
Hizashi could kiss him. Already, he’s feeling more awake, just after a few sips. And sure, he had already wanted to kiss Shouta, had wanted to ever since Shouta had thoroughly kicked his ass at their first year sports festival. He’d fallen very swiftly and very inadvisably in love, which he’d channeled into an aggressive pursuit of friendship and vowed never to speak of.
That doesn’t mean he can’t still be grateful, though. He doesn’t have time to dwell on it, not with Aoki probably already waiting, so he settles for throwing, “You’re the best, Shou, thanks!” over his shoulder on his way out the door.

Denki is, in a direct result of his upbringing, something of an expert in love. The familial sort, the friendly sort, you name it and he’s felt it.
Up until now, the only type of love he hasn’t had the opportunity to experience was of the romantic sort, but the new student in his class — a boy a bit taller than him, with vivid purple hair and tired eyes that Denki would describe as soulful, beautiful, moving and a whole list of other pretty words given the chance to wax poetic — walked by him and Denki was left lovestruck.
The real, pre-quirk era Hollywood type of love. Love like L-O-V-E, emphasis on each and every letter. Explosion of color, head over heels, borderline embarrassing type of love. They always say when you know, you know, and Denki knows.

In another life Tenya would have bothered to answer, to air out his grievances and hope for closure from his pain. But then again, in another life, Tenya would already be flat on the ground by now. So he ignores the question and goes on the attack instead.
Or: In the midst of the chaos in Hosu, Tenya is facing down his worst nightmare. But even as Shouto fights by his side, they can't help the feeling that something isn't quite as it should be.
