Summary
“It’s a heliotrope.” Sam says, and Dean turns his head so he can look at him. Dean moves the washcloth off of his head, and the cold slimy material makes his skin prickle.
Sam is sitting at the motel table, hunched over his computer like he’s trying to merge it with his torso. He’s been twirling the flower stem between his fingers absentmindedly which Dean thinks is a little gross—that thing came out of him, but whatever.
Or: Dean is cursed with Hanahaki disease, and wants to die with some dignity. Sam is going to save his brother at any cost. A story in two parts.

“Sammy?”
Sam jerks away, hitting his knee on the bottom of the table. Dean is standing above him, holding a tray with their food on it. Sam smiles apologetically, but it doesn’t feel convincing. From the expression of doubt and concern on Dean’s face, it doesn’t look it, either.
“Sorry.” Sam mumbles, as Dean moves to sit across from him. Sam scoots closer to the window so their legs don’t touch under the table.
Or: After a particular kind of torture in the Cage, Sam is afraid to touch Dean.
