“Houston, do you copy?”
Caitlyn panicked, feeling extraordinarily unprepared having been thrust into her new position without so much as even a handbook to consult. What were the formalities? What was she supposed to respond with? Where was the damn push to talk button…
“Hellooo? I said Houston, do you copy?”
Caitlyn fiddled with her headset, having finally found the green button on the side and hastily letting out a rather breathless reply. “Um, yes. Hello? This is Houston. I copy.”
There was a long pause in which Caitlyn sat twiddling her thumbs, anxiety pushing the frantic pulse of her heartbeat through her eardrums. Was that wrong? Did she already fuck up? She took a steady deep breath, finger hovering over the talk button until the familiar voice of the astronaut came through her headset once more.
“Damn, Houston. I didn’t expect you to sound so sexy.”
OR
Caitlyn has been assigned as the personal capcom to one of the astronauts currently on a year long expedition at the international space station. Cue long months of pining and desperate longing.

“Violet, darling.”
Two words. That tone. Arousal and trepidation rush through her, stealing her breath with them. She straightens instinctively from her slouch, chin up, her eyes wide as saucers. The danger claxons blaring in her head are of no help whatsoever because she's not a complete idiot; she knows when she's in trouble. A flash of red, easy conversation over a game of pool in her memory. Shit, she thinks, the missive from the council flashing in her mind. Maybe this is my fault after all.
Vi loves her wife and will talk everyone's ear off about her, even seven years into their relationship. Her wife thinks this is a problem. Her wife also thinks this is adorable, but that's beside the point.

Summary
Wasn’t so long ago that the world nearly ended. But, that’s the past and for those that survived they’ve had to keep moving and in the City of Progress, it's non-negotiable. That’s what Vi and Caitlyn are doing, trying to make their home a better place. Stepping into the role of Sheriff, Caitlyn works to root out the deep seeded corruption that festers in the twin cities, while Vi establishes bonds that were stolen from her during her youth. All of that is important, of course. However, what they truly want is simple, to build a life together. Wake up in each other’s arms every morning and sit in their garden. Peace. Quiet. Love. Life tends to get in the way, but their determined to turn their house into a home.

“I miss her,” Caitlyn whispers. “She didn’t make my life easy. In fact, she complicated it exponentially. I never made the right decisions for her, was never on the same page. Thinking of her always brought pain.”
Vi nods, her thumb grazing Caitlyn’s cheek.
“You did everything you could to make her happy, and it still wasn’t enough to save her in the end,” she whispers, letting out a sigh as her gaze travels behind Caitlyn, toward the window.

A month has passed since Noxus' invasion. For the last week, Caitlyn has been planning a fundraiser gala to help with the Piltover and Zaun war relief efforts. She has everything under control... until she doesn't. But Vi is there to help, as she always is, and Caitlyn learns that perhaps it's time to finally let some things go.
