Summary
“Welcome, Samira. Today, we will be conducting an extraction process you have requested and consented to. In order to ensure the process is completed efficiently, we will now screen the preordained memories for harvesting that you’ve listed in your preparation manual. You can expect to feel extreme emotional duress during this process. However, rest assured that the feelings attached to the memories will dissipate almost entirely upon extraction. With this procedure, you are guaranteed a fresh start. Any remaining lingering emotions will fade with time, should you be unlucky enough to experience any of the listed side effects. Are you ready to proceed?”
Samira stares straight forward at the blank screen. She is already somewhere else. It is harder than she thought it would be- to consent to let go.
“Ma’am. Are you ready?”
Samira exhales a shaky breath, and nods. “I’m ready.”

Summary
"Why don't you go shower while I get dinner started?"
Trinity's mouth opens and for a brief second, nothing comes out. It's not that she doesn't have words. She has too many words, stacked in her throat like plates she's afraid to drop—a series of things she would love to vomit at Yolanda's feet, purging them from her body so that she doesn't have to carry them around anymore. But that's not what she asked. Trinity swallows hard, choking down her desire to be difficult. Now is not the time for complaints. Instead, she forces a weary smile, and hedges, "You don't have to do that."

“How’s your arm?” he says.
“How’s your pill addiction?”
Langdon’s eyes narrow. “Really?”
“Oh, you walked right into that one, buddy.”
Maybe someone laced the coffee and that’s why she’s even more snippy than usual. Langdon is still her senior resident. Not that she can bring herself to care much.

Trinity wants to move on, but she doesn't know how to.

Summary
If Samira had it her way, more scientists would study matters of the heart. Having medical answers to life's most unanswerable questions would make her life a lot easier. At the very least, it would quiet her mind.
On Samira's last day at the VA, she makes a friend and finally gets the opportunity to address that inconvenient but nagging crush on her boss.
