Summary
Chuuya is fascinating. Not in the same way that Odasaku is. He cares so much, about everything and nothing. About his men—they’re pawns, Dazai has tried to tell him before, but it’s no use, because Chuuya still goes out and learns all of their names. Beats himself up when they die anyway. It’s heartbreaking and so, so interesting.
He burns like a fire. Out of all the people in the darkness that he’s met—and that’s practically everyone—Chuuya is the most alive. He looks at him and sees his skin and the rise and fall of his chest as he breathes and the way his eyebrows furrow with irritation and sees someone so painstakingly human. Standing beside him, he feels like a ragdoll. He also feels alive. What a weird contradiction.
Dazai’s plastic smile falls as he looks at Chuuya for a moment, out of the corner of his eye. He’s beautiful to him in a way that nobody else ever has been.
It’s alright. Chuuya won’t miss him.

“No fucking suicidal ideation right now.” He spat. Dazai blinked up at his with those big chocolate eyes, sending waves of irritation down Chuuya’s body.
“Aww, and here I was thinking it would make such a good story.”
“What the fuck did I expect.” At this point, Dazai was weighing the possibilities. Atsushi and the others didn’t need either of them to get the children to Ango. The Port Mafia side would already be collecting the drugs from other warehouses and taking care of the stragglers.
He tipped forward on his toes, crashing his lips into the spirited man’s. He felt Chuuya tense and, a few seconds later, a punch crushed his jaw. The pain blossomed, like a low throb in the back of his head. There was blood on his lips either from where the little shrimp had bitten him or the cut on the inside of his cheek.
It didn't matter. Dazai would get him back.

So Dazai ran.
He should’ve had the sense to run to his container or Lupin anywhere but that office. To Odasaku, who might have explained that scents fade after the first heat or that Dazai needed time to make an adjustment.
But instead he ran to the person who could fix it. Who’d fixed the hole by giving him somewhere to live, even in death. Who’d fixed his heats. Mori was there waiting with a grin on his lips.

Mori nodded, his thumb landing on a page somewhere in the middle of his stack. “I suppose this means you’ll need a more suitable punishment. To ensure this is the final time, I’ll have you write this report fifty times, with time for you to think about your mistake afterwards. Then you will be allowed to go home. Does that sound fair?” He separated the paper from the rest, bringing it over to where Dazai was standing and pressing it into open palms. It was the failed mission report for the last one. That made sense. He hadn’t had the chance to write the most recent report, so using the old one was a good idea.
“Yes, Mori-san,”

Chuuya fucks up and uses corruption, failing their mission. Dazai takes the fall.
