Summary
In their bedroom, beneath their bed, she keeps a wooden box. It is small, but some days she struggles to even lift it such is its weight. It is a space that things may enter but never leave. Now she breaks this rule, sorting through its contents as she awaits their guest.
There is a fine silver chain, the foot of a wild rabbit, a pair of incisors, a scrap of cloth, a lock of hair, two pieces of stiff parchment and a dirty scrap of paper. There is the more recent addition of a wax seal, ornate and macabre in equal measure. Then there is the pressed chamomile, which predates all else. A collection of all the moments she had taken for her own.
Inside this box is her heart entire.

Collectively they’ve probably heard it all before.
Being called a ‘rotten egg’ or a ‘bad meiloroon’ was the least of the insults that they’ve had thrown at them. Even Cal can tell stories of it. It’s akin to a sport, sometimes. Taking note and repeating back which derogatory highlight they’d learned that day.

The Enterprise's first mission is a boring one. Luckily, the ship more or less makes its own trouble, including: stills, toilet paper, lighting issues, awkward crewmembers, lunchroom seating politics, and, of course, the Admiralty.

Post-Into Darkness. Jim has a long recovery period ahead of him. Coming back from the dead ain't easy, and putting someone back together after a trauma like that is no walk in the park. Thankfully, he has a pretty amazing crew to help him through it. My NaNoWriMo contribution for 2017.
