Summary
“It’s okay to be soft, Dean.” Cas murmured, like it was something easy, like Cas knew how to put everything down for a second and just yearn.
Dean didn’t know how to be soft. He’d never been one to cuddle, he’d rather die than use floral smelling lotion on his hands, and he never put sugar in his coffee.
His whole life he’d been rough around the edges and overly masculine to survive. He’d made up for his pretty face and long lashes by wearing a leather jacket that smelled like gunpowder and his father’s whiskey, with pockets that were too, too heavy with sins he’d commit again to keep his brother safe.
How would he even begin to allow himself to want–and reach out for what he wants?
Dean sighed. “I uh–It doesn’t come easy to me.”
Castiel shrugged like he already knew, like Dean wasn’t the one who still wore his Dad’s leather jacket, hoping it was enough, hoping he was enough.
Cas leaned into him, his back to Dean's front. “It’s easier than you think.”Or when Dean’s weird, bee-loving, friend Castiel winds his way into Dean’s bed (even though Dean is not gay), and Dean finds himself wanting things more than ever, wanting things he can’t have, wanting things that he’ll never earn.
