“If I wouldn't like it. Don’t people say try it before you say you don’t like it?” Mike looks at him again; his eyebrows raised with a small grin on his face.
“Um… Yeah, I guess. Where is this coming from?” Will asks, turning his body to fully face Mike.
He shrugs.
“Just been thinking about it.”
“About kissing guys?” Will fires the question quickly, wanting to get to the bottom of this.
“No.”
Will tilts his head.
“Okay, then what were you thinking about?” Will laughs dryly, Mike pulling his lips into his mouth.
“Well… about trying it, but not like… guys.” Mikes face starts to flush.
“Okay, then what? A specific guy?” Will laughs, letting one leg stretch over the couch cushions, his other still held to his chest.
“You could say that.” Mike whispers, his eyes darting over Will’s face.

Mike becomes extremely affectionate with Will out of nowhere aka domestic Mike and Will.

“I—I would tell you.” He says reflexively, but he doesn’t take it back. The words are true. He hears Mike’s breath catch and his hand twitches. “I just wouldn’t want you to– to pity me. Or see me… differently.”
“I would never.” The response is instant. “You’re strong. I’d never pity you. I… god, how do I explain?” Mike turns his body to face Will head on and grabs his hand properly. Will feels a shiver run through him, but he squeezes back all the same. “I’m sorry. I’m so fucking sorry, for what you’ve been through, whatever it is. But it would never, never make me look at you differently.”
“Promise?”
“I promise."
Or: Will breaks down after the events at the MAC Z and trusts Mike to help him pick up the pieces.

Mike is not in college.
Will is.
That should not matter as much as it does, but every time Mike visits Will’s dorm, he feels like proof that everyone else is moving forward while he is still stuck in Hawkins, living with his parents and pretending he is “figuring things out.”
Then Mike finds Will’s sketchbook.
It is full of him.
Not a better version of him. Not a prettier, easier, more impressive version. Just Mike, drawn with a tenderness he does not know how to accept.
