“Well, shit.” Jack whispered, and then he turned and ran. Out of his apartment, stopping for a quick minute to grab his jacket from where he’d laid it by the front door. He pulled it on and was down the steps in a quick second. He was almost out of the building when he heard Callum screaming behind him.
“Jack, wait!”
But he kept running. His body started giving up after a few minutes, because he hadn’t eaten enough, and he didn’t have any energy, and Cal was five inches taller than him and five inches wider (in muscle). Trying to run away from him was like trying not to be in love with someone.
Impossible.
