Summary
Javier Peña got his soulmark when he was twelve. When he was still known as Juana and being called a little girl. The unmistakingly burning sensation of his soulmate’s name forming on his ribs happened one fateful afternoon. He had run to the mirror in the attic and pulled up his ugly pink shirt that his dad made him wear. There it was, written in neat red handwriting “Steve Murphy”.
Javier Peña and Steve Murphy grow up in the same rural town in Texas. After Javier gets his soulmark with the name Steve Murphy, he tries to get closer to the other boy until Steve finally gets his. However, Steve doesn't seem to have his name as soulmark. Quickly after that, Steve moves to Miami with his parents and Javier thinks he never sees him again. When he turns twenty, he finally figures out his gender identity, and undertakes steps to transition from Female to Male. He starts working at the DEA in Colombia and after a few years gets assigned a new partner, Steve Murphy, who is convinced Javier Peña is his soulmate.
