Summary
Dean’s always wanted a supernatural companion. Something strange and maybe a little dangerous - the kind of pet that would make people stop and stare. Now that he’s finally settled into a place of his own, it feels like the right time, but the supernatural creature he ends up taking home isn’t what he imagined.
Hidden in the back of the emporium, caged and collared, is an angel with dirt-matted feathers, half-healed bruises, and eyes that burn cold when they finally meet Dean’s. Dean knows he’s in no way prepared for this, but he also knows he can’t just leave him there.

Summary
Then: when Gabriel left heaven, he took Castiel along with him. That's why when, centuries later, Dean Winchester goes hunting a trickster while his brother is at Stanford, he meets Castiel instead. And no matter how much Gabriel warns him off, Castiel wants this beautiful little hunter as his own, even if it's only for a few nights.
Now: Dean is devastated by Sam's death at the hands of Jake Talley. On his way to sell his soul to revive Sam, Dean prays for the first time in years. His prayer is answered by someone he hasn't seen in over three years: someone who turns out to be an angel, someone who vows to care for him, someone who wants Dean as a mate. The angel Castiel.

“What makes Dean so special?” Sam demanded.
The honest answer was “everything”, but Castiel bit it back at the last second. Dean wouldn’t appreciate that kind of sentiment right now. “Your nightmares are particularly horrifying,” he said instead. “You have seen so much, but your soul remains pure. I have never tasted anything so exquisite.”
He intended for the comment to be a compliment, but Dean immediately blushed bright red and sputtered something unintelligible. Sam just rolled his eyes and let his arms drop to his sides, though he maintained his grip on the blade.

"We think Cas is a procubus," Sam blurted out. Then he winced and yelped when Charlie kicked him under the table. "Ow!"
"Smooth, Sam," Charlie snapped.
Dean looked back and forth between them, realizing that they were both 100% serious. "A procubus."
"Basically it's the sexless version of an incubus or a succubus," Charlie explained before Sam could. "It's... it's a demon that kills people by sleeping with them." She was chewing on her thumbnail now, eyes big and apologetic. Sam had done one better pasting on a truly epic kicked puppy expression of apology.
"You think Cas is killing people by cuddling with them," Dean said, just to be sure.

Summary
While on a case, Castiel encounters a 'touch healer' who claims that humans need eight hugs a day to be happy and healthy. She also says it's a matter of life and death, which of course makes the angel very concerned for his own touch-starved hunter. Is Dean slowly dying?
Better not take any chances. Eight hugs a day? Done.
Operation Hug Dean is in motion.
