Dean Winchester has been living in secret for over a century. Turned into a vampire in the 1800’s, he had to leave one brother behind in Mystic Falls while running away from another brother who promised him an eternity of misery. But, in 2009, his plans are interrupted, and he returns to Mystic Falls when a familiar face draws him out of hiding. Castiel Shurley has the same face of the vampire that turned him into a vampire over a hundred years ago and he feels drawn to the other man by some force that he can’t explain.

After spending year after year of his childhood in Camp Harvelle, Dean finally returns to it as a grown up, this time to watch after a bunch of kids as a camp counselor. He's looking forward to a fun, nostalgic summer, but what he didn't expect is the return of his childhood friend Cas. Or better known as: The guy who suddenly left camp when they were 15 without a word and ghosted Dean since then. Now Dean has to figure out how to deal with the backlash of whatever drove him and Cas apart and also how to keep the kids from trying to constantly get in trouble.

Dean’s optimism lasts for an hour, but then the post-reunion jitters wear off, and Dean remembers just how much of a pain in the ass that Sam can be.
“Cas seems nice,” Sam says, shooting Dean yet another smile, his fourth one in the last ten minutes.
“Yeah,” Dean says, keeping his voice even and his eyes on the road. “Really nice dude.” Dean doesn’t mention the swing he’d taken at the same asshole earlier that morning. Nor the resulting bruises to his ribcage, which have long since been healed up. But Sam is here now, and everything from before no longer matters. Dean cruises down the interstate, his brother riding shotgun, and Cas is forgiven.
“Where’d you two meet?” Sam asks, all sly-like, as if he knows something, when really, Sam doesn’t know shit. “On a case?”
“Disneyland,” Dean says, clenching his jaw in growing irritation. “Mind your own business.”
—Or, Sam isn't resurrected in the S2 finale. John won't go to Heaven. Dean won't go to Hell. And Cas, in his first act of free will, won't accept John Winchester as The Righteous Man.

Ares disappeared from Olympus decades ago and didn't return, so Zeus, annoyed, asked his messenger Hermes, also known as Castiel, to find him with a present to deliver in hopes of persuading Ares to come home.
Castiel eventually finds Ares living on Earth as a musician playing in an old bar. Happy with his new life, Dean wanted nothing to do with Olympus or the gods. Castiel who wants nothing to do with Ares, just wants to deliver this package. It should have been a quick rather unpleasant exchange but Zeus had other plans. Tricking the two into a binding marriage, with their souls intertwined by unbreakable bracelets.
Now forced to deal with their complicated feelings for each other while trying to break the curse that binds them. They have to learn to live together and perhaps even love each other if they ever want to be free.
It's easier said than done.
