He's looking forward to a fun, nostalgic summer, but what he didn't expect is the return of his childhood friend Cas. Or better known as: The guy who suddenly left camp when they were 15 without a word and ghosted Dean since then. Now Dean has to figure out how to deal with the backlash of whatever drove him and Cas apart and also how to keep the kids from trying to constantly get in trouble.

Tempest sighed. “Fine.” He didn’t walk away or anything before he started to shed his skin. Dean slapped a hand across his eyes and then turned around. When all the squishy sounds stopped, he opened his eyes, now face to face with Spencer Reid.

Will the angels agree to the ceasefire? Will the Mark behave until the ceasefire is signed? Will it even be possible to have a ceasefire once Lucifer gets out of the cage? And will Dean and Cas finally be able to settle down into the apple pie life with 5.5 kids and a dog?

But Dean soon learns that Cas is really Justice Castiel Novak, a reluctant judge who has been assigned to hear the same trial that Dean’s career is depending on. Both knowing that they could ruin their entire professional lives by carrying on a relationship, they continue to see each other in secret, which mostly involves Dean winding up in Cas’ bed. They learn, though, they have a lot more in common than they thought, both following in the footsteps of what their fathers wanted, & both scarred by tragic events in their pasts.(The title comes from the legal term “Ex parte” which refers to improper contact between a judge and one party in a lawsuit).
