Mark needs thousands of dollars, she needs a round trip ticket to Istanbul, and she needs to get over her fear of needles, so she can stop taking estradiol.How do you bring attention to the fact that you've slipped into a romantic relationship with your emotionally immature best friend? Eduarda watches Mark obsess over computer projects, a relationship that is supposed to fulfill the college experience but ends in angry blogging, and a tech superstar who makes her skin crawl.
There is no need to crawl across hot coals for acceptance from people who will only ever look down upon you, so start your own club, become the president, and fight like hell for it. For you have the world in your palms, for the first time in your life.

"They haven’t seen each other in two years. The last time he saw Eduardo, they couldn’t meet each other’s eyes. Now, Chris can’t help but search for his gaze. He regrets the effort the moment he succeeds. There’s none of the longed-for warmth, none of the relieved familiarity that was a trademark of that last year, none of the dreamt-of hope. Eduardo’s eyes are dull, and dark, and they dart away as soon as Chris lands on them."

In 2008, Chris is in the middle of Mark and Eduardo, the deposition, and the remnants of their college relationship that none of them are over.
Back in 2005, Chris returns to Harvard and faces Eduardo for the first time since the dilution.
