And Abed doesn’t meet Troy’s eye, and Rachel walks into Abed’s room in front of Abed, and Troy can’t read Abed’s expression at all, and he wishes he didn’t have to see the pity on Annie’s face.
The couch is really comfortable, much more than a tiny cot on a tiny, rocking sail boat, but somehow Troy wishes he was still on the Mediterranean – somewhere at a time when he could still pretend that he was as important to Abed as Abed was to him.

“You’re upset I didn’t go to the dance with you.” Abed says it like he’s discovering it. His fingers aren’t doing that tapping thing anymore. He clutches onto his own hand.
“I’m not—!” Troy tries to protest but there’s not really a point. He glances quickly to his side to try to gauge Abed’s reaction, but he can’t look at him long enough to decipher it and safely drive the car at the same time.
“Yeah,” Troy starts again. There’s no point in pretending at this point, and friends don’t lie. “Yeah, I guess I am.”
