Summary
“Thank you,” he whispers eventually. He’d thought Wu Ming had died, dispersed by the vengeful spirits. The grief that had struck him, knowing that the ghost he’d mistreated so badly was his last believer…
But no. He’s here. Xie Lian glances to his side - Wu Ming kneels quietly, dark hair blowing gently in the wind, chest unbreathing but solid.
Xie Lian has a second chance, now.
Wu Ming only disperses temporarily at the end of Book 4. Xie Lian uses his second chance to learn the secret underneath that crescent smile.

Summary
Xie Lian’s wrist brushes against Wu Ming’s face, and Wu Ming immediately leans into it, allowing Xie Lian to scent him.
Their scents mix in the air - Xie Lian’s floral one intertwining with Wu Ming’s smoky one, heavy with his pre-season - and for a little while, they just gaze into each other’s eyes.
They work on the nest together, Wu Ming growing restless before too long. He tears at his clothes, then stops, glancing at Xie Lian.
Xie Lian offers to help Wu Ming through his season. He’s a little anxious about knotting him, but it turns out to be everything either of them could have wanted.
