This was so lovely, Terra!!! 💖💖💖 You were right, I did like the fluff very much. It is angsty but it has enough comfort to more than make up for it and I honestly really liked how you can have this as a kind of follow up to your other fic. Poor Hunter is not going to be done dealing with all the trauma for a good while
On another note, I really enjoyed how when Hunter first tries to take a shower and when he first tries to get into the lake, his perception is more introspective, which makes sense since he's reliving trauma and not processing the world around him but also the "threat" was something internal due to the possession, while when he's swimming with Darius, his perception is more external, first with trying to ground himself with Darius' presence and then with noticing the starts and the world around him. Which feels very nice too bc it made me think of Eda and Luz' trip to the Knee, the idea of connecting with nature and Hunter feeling loved by the water and the sky, the complete opposite of the self centered view Belos had that made Hunter too have to be focused only on Belos.
I'll be honest, I cannot for the life of me figure out why the lake is glass in the title, I'm sort of thinking a bit about the metaphorical sense, a mirror vs a glass, buuuut I'm most likely going in the complete wrong direction here. I would love to know your thoughts on that tho. (Nevermind, I wrote this one immediately after reading it the first time and I caught it on the description right now, but still, was it that or there were other reasons?)

He wanted to do this quickly but its not possible cause even before when he tried to do things quickly, he just traumatized himself even more instead of actually facing the issue.
Darius trying to come up with a joke but the struggle is real 😭 Eventho Hunter was not gonna do what Darius thought he was gonna do, its still a serious issue.
He has a feeling that if they go back home now without him offering that option, Hunter is gonna feel worse and worse cause its sth lingering on his mind. Even if Hunter didnt chose to swim now, he would still have the option as long as Darius offers.
I didnt put it in but Eber gave him a look when he almost slipped 👀 He knows whats up.
The kid needs all the physical comfort now beside the emotional and while Darius is gonna provide the emotional with the swimming, he can give some more physical.
Eber sniffed that kid real good in the first few days to remember his scent cause emotions are running high and who knows what might happen. Good thing that he did.

Well its a good way to lighten the situation, talking about Hunters funny and goofy swim suit.
Oh yeah, he is talking about everything. He is not letting that kid slip through his fingers cause it almost happened AGAIN and it could have ended up so badly, he could have drowned. Darius might not be showing it rn, but he is gonna have a good breakdown about it later when he is alone.
All those scenes of them hugging in the water is literally the sole reason I wrote this fic 😭 I really wanted Darius to help him with his fear and just hold him while they float.
He is a gift giver, he listens to what ppl like and tries to give it to them in whatever way possible. And Hunter is his most likely recipient these days.
Now that he is actually calm, he can talk to and tease Darius properly and actually have a good time. He is not gonna be thinking of drowning next time but of Darius holding him and supporting his weight through the whole thing.

Yeah its not just the water thats the issue, its that its connected to Belos too closely. Even the feeling of it can be close to Belos' sludge which he is all too familiar with. He needed to separate them so he doesnt associate them with each other. And after all, hes always been interested in the Isles, in the flora and fauna cause this is his home and he can finally enjoy its riches instead of being cooped up in the castle.
The title is,,,a lot of things 😭 Frankly I did struggle with naming this fic but since I needed to make Lake Lacuna unique in some way, i decided to make it a beach glass lake. Yk those shores that have glass from bottles all over but its smoothed and made pretty by the waves and is basically part of the natural landscape now. And lake glass unlike sea glass is clearer and less frosted looking cause no salt in the water. Ig in many ways it just reminded me of Hunter, that even if he feels like he is unnatural and not part of the lanscape much like he felt in the bathroom, he is actually part of it and is unqiue in his own way. In the end when he was finally able to appreciate the beauty of the nature around him, that includes the lake glass and himself by extension (yk i might have to put this in authors note 😭)
