Summary
Being deaf was just a part of Snufkin.
He was used to it, born with it, lived in it. Silence was calming, was home.When Snufkin gets hearings aids, so small they go unnoticed by all but him, he feels no need to mention his deafness to Moomin or anybody else in Moominvalley, or all of his travels. After all, what difference does it make if they know or not?
When Snufkin's hearing aids go missing, it turns out it makes quite the difference.

Summary
“Don’t you think Snufkin is a lot like Mr. Jelly here?” Sniff asks from his place on the couch, stroking the kitten on his lap. Moominpappa and Moominmamma both look over from where they’re sat in the kitchen curiously, while Moomin raises an eyebrow.
In which Moomin slowly realizes Snufkin acted rather like a cat at times, and eventually, so does everyone else.

His nanny processes this, mouth open dumbly. If it’s just an expression or she’s making a note, he could only guess. “There?”
“The sea.”
“Why there?”
“I read it and my heart twisted,” he replies, honestly. There was no point to lying, after all. He’d felt a tug, and urge to leave immediately and go there; he could not explain it away, or shrug it off.
It felt like instinct. It felt like nature, a part of him, something more than what he must do and close to who he must be.
His siblings all are social by nature. He thinks this fine, but not his own.Or: Snufkin leaves his family to make one for himself.
