Summary
Azu shifts uncomfortably in her seat, fingers playing with her half-full glass of champagne. The festival has been going on for hours now, and people have come by to greet her, some sitting there for a few moments before moving on, but she’s been stranded here alone for the better part of an hour, now, and is wondering if she should maybe pack it up and go home.
The festival has been very pretty. There are flowers coming out of everything, and the air is rich with the scent of lilacs and roses and lilies. It’s so colorful - it almost reminds Azu of parties from back home, and she’s hit with so much nostalgia that she can’t help but wish she were still there.

Summary
Hamid startled back into wakefulness when the train whistle went off, followed by a droning conductor’s voice announcing that the next stop was Dunnock Town. He glanced out the window that he had been dozing against, making a face at the little bit of makeup and oil that his forehead must have left on the glass. Quickly he glanced around and pulled out a handkerchief, dabbing the small blemish away.
The hills and rolling fields fell away behind them as the train steamed ahead, passing through a dense forest and alongside a river. The sun was beginning to set off in the distance, casting long shadows over the train as it slowly chugged along. It looked like your standard English countryside, although it wasn’t raining, and Hamid wondered what could have made his grandfather decide to settle in such a small place as Dunnock Town.

Summary
Today was the big day, after all. The Brass Scale was opening for business, all of the work he and Zolf (well, mainly Zolf, but Hamid was there for moral support so that counted for something) had done was about to be tested, and Hamid was doing his level best to not shake out of his skin.

Summary
The bell rings and loud, nearly cackling laughter echoes through the store as Hamid and Sasha look over at the door, Hamid smiling brightly while Sasha simply hops up on the counter and sits with her legs crossed.
“Good morning, how may I -“ his words die in his throat as two of the most colorfully dressed women he’s ever seen come into the store, chattering away loudly and completely ignoring Hamid and Sasha. They’re wearing matching racing jackets, colored a bright neon green paired with bright yellow pants, and blue racing goggles pushed up on their heads. They head directly for the monster parts, discussing how one is better than the other back-and-forth and back-and-forth and still arguing, albeit lightheartedly. Sasha nudges Hamid’s arm and tilts her head in their direction, rolling her eyes and giving him a bit more of a shove.

Summary
Zolf’s farm is absolutely gorgeous. It’s situated a little bit out of town, nearly walkable from Hamid’s house if he wanted to take a long stroll on a warm summer morning. The acres go on across the hills, with different crops lining the rows that stretch beyond how far Hamid can see. There are tractors and sprinkles resting in the fields, among the waving wheat and stalks of corn and bushes full of berries. Hamid loves walking the rows, smelling the fresh fruit and vegetables and the air, crisp in a way that it isn’t in the city.

Summary
But that’s in the past. And now, Hamid finds himself on a boat, a little way from the shore of Dunnock Town, surrounded by friends, all trying to individually teach him how to fish. See, Hamid had made the mistake of saying that he’s never been fishing before, and that had resulted in Zolf, Sasha, and, surprisingly, Grizzop, all looking at him like he’d grown a second head and proclaiming that they would teach him.

Summary
He likes being here, more than he thought he would, and it’s a nice change from how his life has felt for the past few years. More settled, somehow, as though this where he was meant to belong all along. It’s easy for Hamid to lean against the door as soft pop music plays from Zolf’s radio, windows down and wind blowing gently across his face.

Summary
Hamid doesn’t know what it is, exactly. Maybe it’s the crisp fall air blowing in that’s caused him to take leave of his senses, or maybe the leaves turning a burnished red and gold on the trees and making Hamid dream of grand adventure.
Maybe it’s because Grizzop called him a coward at dinner last week when he talked about the weird moving thing in the shop (which he still doesn’t know the cause of), and Hamid immediately felt the need to prove him wrong on a grand scale.
(It’s definitely that.)

Summary
The tower in the middle of the woods is a tall thing, crooked and slanting, and Hamid thinks that it must be supported with magic to be leaning that far and still be standing. Moss and ivy curl around the sides, crawling up to a small window at the top of the tower, and Hamid takes a moment to gawp up at the thing. It looks like everything he’d ever imagined a wizard tower to look like, complete with the tiny birds and plumes of smoke climbing out through the chimney. It’s idyllic, in a sense, with pine trees stretching up to the sky above, looking a little bit larger than they maybe have any right to be.

Summary
Hamid - okay, there are a lot of complicated feelings running around and making a complete mess of Hamid’s head, especially recently. He wants to confess to Zolf, he really does, but… well, they run a business together, and if Zolf doesn’t feel the same way (because he doesn’t, because he can’t, because Hamid’s imagined all the little moments between them and given them more meaning than Zolf’s ever intended) then things will just be awkward between them, and that’s not something Hamid is even remotely able to deal with. Zolf is… his best friend, really, him and Azu, and Hamid doesn’t want to lose Zolf just because he - just because he can’t get a hold of his stupid crush.
