Jane Elizabeth Holney. Her full name. Jane stared at it on the envelope in front of her, sealed, for better or for worse, with her decision.
So many things had led her here. Sauron, a Convergence, a Keeper, a ring, and the fate of the world cradled in the hands of a depressing few. And Elves, of course.
Or—just one, if she wanted to be honest.
Rain pattered against the large window, and Jane rested her head against the cool stone wall. The sound of the road and the birds singing, faintly, reached her ears as everyone slept.
How would she be remembered, in the end? A threat to global security? A hero? A delusional, bare-brained scientist with a deathwish for the world?
Did it matter?
