King Shark glanced at the man sitting next to him who looked both a bit confused and terribly bored, handsome in a disheveled way where he would probably look 10 years younger if he got a good night’s sleep. He was wearing a trench coat too. King Shark gave him a warm smile, holding up his glass. “John Constantine, I presume?”
"... Yes?" John jumped out of his skin and looked as if he was expecting to get an earful. King imagined he had snuck on the party uninvited, but then, who was he to judge? It wasn’t as if he was invited to fancy events very often.
“It’s nice to meet you. Most people were too afraid to sit next to me, I’m afraid.”
He stretched his hand and gave John a small smile. John realized he found him rather ... charming.

Nanaue came out from the shower and into John's kitchen to find his ... boyfriend, was it? What were they? with a cigarette hanging between his lips and a glass of whiskey sitting in front of him. What was it, noon, to be already doing that?
John gave him a small smirk, not letting go of the cigarette in his mouth. He stretched, legs on the table and tie a bit loose, already with his signature white shirt on hanging outside his pants in a careless manner. If he looked casual enough, maybe Nanaue wouldn’t notice how sometimes his hands shook a bit too much in the morning. "Mornin', luv."
"Isn't it a bit too early for... that? I could prepare us cereal, maybe coffee?"
"Never too early for a shot of whiskey. Besides, half the time I get home with the sun anyway. This was just a slow week, you’ll see. Never here more than I have to be, me."

At the restaurant, Constantine can't help notice something is wrong in the neighboring table. Which is bad, considering he promised Nanaue not to work as an exorcist for once.

“This is really a fancy place.”“Yes, isn’t it, John? Took me forever to get a reservation, even after hacking their computer.”
The waiter came and took their orders. John glanced again at the other table. No. This couldn’t be happening. He was not a workaholic and despite what some people said, he didn’t have a savior complex.
“The wine all looked so nice.” John said casually, trying to focus on the meal. Maybe he was wrong. Maybe there wasn’t any magic here except his own.
“Yet you didn’t seem to pay attention to what you ordered.”
“Didn’ I?”
Why was this happening to him? Right now, in this nice place, with Nanaue looking at him as if he could smell what was going on.
“John, you’re distracted.”

John glanced at Nanaue, who was looking at his reflection on the window and straightening his clothes and stroking his head as if he was getting some loose hairs back into place. Probably John shouldn’t tell people he was King Shark, social media manager to assorted supervillains. Not everyone was as open-minded as they ought to be. "Ta, nevermind."
