Summary
“You know what I want?” Clarke asks, when she pulls back. They’re still so close that Raven can see the danger-glint in her eye and the tiny curve at the corner of her mouth, and the strands of hair that have come loose from her bun and plastered themselves to the sides of her face.
“To get back on the road? Immediately?”

Summary
“Our friends are weak,” Murphy announces, kicking the ball up and grabbing it, tucking it under his arm. He’s staring out toward the playground at the far end of the park, where a bunch of kids are caught up in an excited, rousing game of tag. One of them makes his escape up the slide. Two others are circling each other, back and forth around the jungle gym. “Those little munchkins are running around as if it weren’t a hundred and ten degrees—why can’t we?”

Summary
Octavia almost jumps when something pokes at the edge of her arm. It takes her too many seconds to realize it’s just the popcorn bowl, being clumsily offered, and she cringes at the slight rustling, like wind through gnarled tree branches, of her own fingers as she gathers a handful of kernels.
Tonight’s adventure, the voice on the radio tells them, will take them far across a violent, treacherous sea, to a lonely, desolate outpost, an abandoned lighthouse on a forgotten coast—
“This will be a good one,” Jasper whispers, and Monty elbows him hard in the ribs.

Summary
“Wanheda,” Bellamy says, then, and she has to turn her gaze abruptly back to him. He’s holding out his hand and waiting.
She takes a step forward and slides her palm into his.
“Chancellor Blake,” she answers, but her voice sounds like another’s voice, too sly and too smooth with this role she’s playing. He’s staring at her without ease, seeing through her, gripping her hand so tightly that she understands why the expression around his eyes is blank, and his skin burns too warm against her skin.
He slides his thumb softly across the side of her hand, then lets go.
