“So, you ever gonna tell me your real name?” Kerry blurts out from the passenger seat of V’s Avenger.
V looks over to him with a confused look before snapping his eyes back to the road and thinking the question over. He laughs to himself before finally saying, “It’s V. Thought you knew that?”
“I ain’t buyin’ the idea that your parents named you a letter, my guy.”

“Hey, Ker.” V says, snapping the man out of those thoughts. His hands come to rest on Kerry's thighs, thumbs tracing little circles across the bare skin over his hips. “Talk to me.”
“‘Bout what?”
“Your kids. Your ex. Any of it.”
“Tsk.” Kerry makes the sound and turns his head away, probably thinking he can hide the pain that’s made itself home in his eyes. “It’s not important.”
“That’s not true.” V presses his thumbs down and shakes his body just a little, giving Kerry an expression that tells him it’s okay.
“Yeah, fine. Where to start…”

“Misssty…” The name tumbles off his tongue like a boulder down the side of a mountain and the next string of words is like the avalanche that follows. “I dunno… think somthins wrong wit’ me.”
“V? Are you drunk?” Misty’s tone shifted from groggy to angry in the blink of an eye, scaring the man.
“Noooo, I promise. Only had…” He pauses and holds his hand in front of his face, trying to count his fingers. “Only like one thin’, I swear.”
The anger in her voice shifts to concern. “Something’s wrong… V, you drink alcohol like it’s water and I’ve never even seen you even remotely drunk. What’s goin’ on?”
