"You know what? I think you're right," she says softly. "Also a serial killer would probably pick a less memorable costume."
She pulls a phone out of her back pocket and holds the cracked screen up for his inspection.
"Listen, uh," she falters and blushes, nervous about her ask, but still she pushes on. "Is it okay if I shoot a picture of you to my friend? Just, uh, in case..."
"... that I am a serial killer after all?"
She shrugs, seeming genuinely embarrassed.
"Well, yeah."OR

“Hi,” Ben answers, sounding slightly breathless. “You came.”
“I said I would.”
His face flushes, bringing a healthy pink hue to his pale cheeks.
“That you did,” he breathes. Then, slightly louder. “Did you have a good trip?”
“I did.”
He takes a few steps and winces when his hooves clatter on the tile floor.
“Jesus, that is loud,” he grumbles. “How did I never notice how loud that is?”
Rey laughs. It’s not so bad, but she knows how nervousness can amplify every little thing. Like how she hears her own heartbeat echo in her ears right now.
“Right,” Poe interrupts, before she can answer Ben. “While I enjoy the awkwardness, I think that is my cue to leave. I have a date later, because it’s a disgrace that this one here is getting more tail than I am, and I still need to freshen up.”
“I won’t be...” Ben stammers, unable to finish the sentence, and Poe pats him on the rump.
“Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do,” he winks at Rey as he exits the room. “Which, to be honest, isn’t much.”
Ben rolls his lips, still blushing furiously.
“I didn’t… he is...” he sighs. “Poe is a nuisance and I am seriously considering firing him and I am sorry that he exists.”Series
