Her bedroom’s quiet when Lucifer lands, shadowed in the night’s hold, the minimal light casting across her face and lighting it in shades of luminescence. Every feature matches up perfectly in his mind, yet his memory couldn’t encapsulate the way her exhalation’s frozen at the gust announcing his entrance, nor the way her eyes, aching and tear-filled, light up at the sight of him. Her eyes don’t move from him, as if daring to hope, daring to dream.
Daring to think this isn’t a dream at all.

They all freeze in motion as Rory looks to them with tears in her eyes, a silence full of awe falling around them all as they’ve finally reached that impossible other side, free of time’s grip.
“Rory…” Lucifer exhales on a breath, quiet yet deafening in its weight.
Silence broken, Rory lets loose a laugh, small and emotional, tears beginning to make their way down her cheek. “Hi Mom. Hi Dad.”

For now, Trixie walks into view, appearing slightly older than Lucifer last remembers her. She’s a young woman, he thinks about Rory’s age, if her age were in human years, that is.
