Summary
By now I’m pretty sure we’ve always had these super intense feelings for each other, and just assumed them to be burning hatred because that was the only thing we knew.
But we never loved each other right. We couldn’t even begin to know how.
Maybe, at the end of it all, I just want to hold your hand while you fix yourself. Maybe I just want you to hold mine as I do the same.

Summary
“I thought I was mostly fine, but apparently I’m not. The fever is making me hallucinate. I swear there’s a chicken in our kitchen.” The chicken in question was sitting in the pot on the stove, which was honestly the weirdest part.
Harrow had tensed, but now she seemed to relax a fraction, the worry in her expression shifting to something more confused. “Of course there’s a chicken in our kitchen. How am I supposed to make chicken soup without one? Why would you be hallucinating that?”
Gideon honestly had no words for that.

Summary
It was still surreal to Gideon sometimes—to have nothing to spend a Saturday on except lie in the sun and cook lunch and then pass an entire evening with her wife asleep on her shoulder as she read to their child. Harrow’s moody goth aesthetic was being thoroughly ruined by the flower crown Abby had made her, and there was complete and utter peace, a kind they’d never known when they themselves had been children.
