"How's your flat?" Wilbur asks. "Still no luck with the heating?"
"You know I can't afford it." Tommy mutters, stirring a spoon around in his cup of coffee.
"I could help you with it." Wilbur offers.
Tommy politely shakes his head. "No, don't worry about it. I don't plan to stay here much longer."
The way he says it, he thinks, might set off alarm bells in Wilbur's head. (Tommy prays that it does, prays to Prime that Wilbur notices his tone, notices his exhaustion and just asks him to go with him. He prays that Wilbur will care just enough to do something about it.)
Wilbur doesn't make any comment about it.
(Something inside Tommy cracks at that. Maybe this is it.)

Tommy's only 16, he shouldn't have all of these responsibilities. His landlord is shit, he doesn't get paid enough to afford groceries and he's so fucking tired. He just wants someone to see his struggles, he wants someone to care for once.

"Tubbo blows things out of proportion." Tommy pauses, and continues when Techno doesn't interrupt. "He's the type of person to call the cops or even the FBI if you don't respond to his texts overnight."
"You should end your friendship with him." Techno tells him.
"He'd know it's forced! He-"
"Don't be stupid, Tommy. You're not being forced. You're ending the friendship on your own terms. He's threatening to compromise your safety and wellbeing, that seems like a bad friend, doesn't it?"
Tommy chews on the inside of his cheek. Techno.. Does have a point.

Tommy freezes. He'd recognise that god awful voice anywhere. It haunts his fucking dreams, for gods sake.

Tommy turns his head, and makes direct eye contact with Dream.

"I finally found you." Dream smiles, and it's fucking horrifying.

Tommy does as told, and sits down with Sam in the empty classroom.
Sam leans forward on his elbows. He takes a deep breath and looks Tommy in the eyes.
"Is someone hurting you at home?"

Tommy taps his fingers against his leg, thinking.
"I don't think... I don't think I hold anything against you for that." Tommy says thoughtfully. Then he lowers his tone, speaking more quietly so that only Techno will be able to hear it. "I'm kind of glad Dream's dead."
Techno looks at him in shock.
"Tommy you can't just say that!"
"Why not?" Tommy defends. "You know what he did to me. I'm allowed to be glad that he's dead!"
"But I killed him." Techno hisses.
(Tommy honestly isn't even all that surprised.)
