“I’m planning on taking a journey soon.” He straightens up even further when he realizes his shoulders have begun hunching in. “A quest,” he corrects just to make his intention clear.
James blinks again. “A quest?” He says slowly.
“Yes.” Steve’s heart feels like it’s beating straight out of his ears, but he forced himself to go on. He’s too close to finishing to stop. “I’m going on a quest.” He pauses to lick his lips, eyes still locked with James' own. “And if you’re willing, I’d like for you to go with me.“

Summary
When Bucky sighs, it’s with a stretch of his arms up above his head, one of which that he stretched out beside him to silently invite Steve to join him in his lounging. Out loud, he addressed Alpine instead. “You hear that, boy? Barely pays any attention to you all day and now he didn’t even bring you back any treats. So much for treating us like royalty.”
Steve huffs, and even though his feet are dragging in the step he takes forward, Bucky takes it as a good sign. “It wouldn’t be very good diplomacy if I made my guests go to bed hungry.”
