Summary
In the time before time, in the world before the world, bathed in the amorphous starlight and mists that had not yet solidified into creation, two angels shared each other’s company. They talked, and laughed, and smiled, in the easy communion of friendship without complication.
“What was that idea you had mentioned?” Aziraphale asked, when their shared chuckling had died down.
“Oh. Right. It’s a new one. And nothing to do with constellations, this time.” The angel who would one day be Crowley hesitated. “Can I show you?”

Summary
The ring was secure around Aziraphale’s little finger, the smooth gold band with its ornate wings fitted flawlessly to his hand. It felt pleasant, that small metal circlet; cool and comfortable, easy to fidget with yet seldom slipping out of place without leave.
When he closed his eyes, he could almost think it one and the same as that sturdy yet gossamer ribbon that, on another plane of existence, sat snugly around the matching metaphysical finger-equivalent… and stretched, at its other end, to he who was no longer the red-haired angel who had first formed their bond.
