“We don’t have to talk about it,” you said. “It wasn’t a big deal.”
“You came home late, shouldered past me, had a panic attack the second I touched you, and then proceeded to dissociate for almost an hour. I don’t consider that ‘nothing’.”

And suddenly those walls came crumbling down entirely.
“These eyes are not my own. They are my mothers, my grandfathers,” he spoke with hatred, “and that horrifying pit. It’s the very color that almost killed my brother.” His voice cracked at the edges and you couldn’t tell if it was from how much venom he spoke with or if his own heart was tearing inside his chest. “It is a color of violence and nothing more. Green deserves no place beside the others.”
You wondered if you were really talking about the color green anymore.
