Summary
The eyes are a gateway to the soul, and Silco sees something he knows all too well. There is devotion set in the sharp features of her face. Hers to a woman of steel and fists and soul forged from fire. His to a woman who moves like the wind, she’s made of smoke, and clever smiles and all these little pieces Silco will never be able to live without.
They will kill her. He’s sure of it, so her shot. It does not deter him.

Summary
Silco ignored the pang in his chest that kept creeping in. Instinct had him waiting for his spitfire of a girl to come down from the rafters any second and slide right into his lap. The truth was she was gone. The thought alone nearly killed him. So he worked, and worked, and worked. He let the hours blur into days he pretended he wasn’t counting, and soon they became weeks.

Summary
One of her braids is loose, pooling all over the ‘oh so important’ forms. She combs her fingers through the other one. Jinx lets the metal casings fall to the ground, absentmindedly working her hair out. “Vi’s girlie dragged me around all kinds of places today-” a grin spreads across her face when she notices Silco’s gaze and the lines of his signature turn messy. “One of them was this fancy-pants flower shop. Sure I couldn’t stop sneezing even after the snob behind the counter made me leave- but you should have seen the bundle Kitty Cait walked out with! It must’ve been as big as her!” Jinx drops her hair and opens her arms as wide as she can to emphasize the size of the bouquet.

Summary
“Yes, child?” The girl lays a piece of candy on his desk, pushing it forward without a word. Silco examines it slowly, holding it to the light as he ponders. The day has hardly started, the sunshine streaming in through mosaic glass dances across the room. The young girl chases the shapes as they move in front of her. “Pray-tell, what did your mother say?”
