Summary
Just when he thought he could get some work done at the edge of his city, his day was promptly ruined.
He’d been hard at work fortifying the walls keeping the sculk at bay together with a few builder goblins. As king of the Goblands, it was his duty to support and protect his people, lead them and work hard alongside them. That was his plan for the day. To rid of his kingly armour as protector and build with them. Just for a day or two. Of course fate came and kicked his plan into the dust.
The horn meant to warn the city of an incoming threat sounded. Instantly, his ears perked up and turned towards the sound. But the blaring horn had overwhelmed the sound of approaching footsteps, and he hadn’t prepared for a punch to the jaw.
Or, the Goblands get raided and fWhip is too caught off-guard to do something about it before it’s too late

Summary
Boo blinked away the last bits of his daze and struggled against the ropes holding him in place. His mouth opened to speak but he paused. It seemed a million words were on the tip of his tongue but only a single quiet one managed to get out. “Doc?”
Now the grin came easily. There was the fear he’d been looking for.
“There’s two ways this can go, Boo.” Grabbing the back of the chair, Doc tilted it so he could lean ominously over the hero. Boo scrambled to reach the ground with his toes, sucking in a deep breath as he awaited Doc’s next words. “Either you give me what I want and maybe get away with some minor injuries, or you don’t and it’s going to be a very, very long week for you.”
Or, Doc forces some answers out of the city’s main superhero only to find his best friend is behind the mask

“Hey, slow down!” Two hands grabbed his own. The bed dipped as Bdubs sat down.
Why was he sitting, they needed to get out of-
“Breathe for me, honey. You can breathe. Come on, in … and out … and in.”

Joel had always considered Jimmy to be his younger brother. He wasn’t, technically. He was a close friend, a bit younger than him, but they always annoyed and bothered each other as if they were family. He loved Jimmy as much as he loved his actual family, if not more.
It didn’t take much to get Jimmy on his toes. It was easy to rile him up, easy to get him to do exactly what you wanted him to do. Too easy. Which was why Joel would always be there to protect him.
When he heard about Grian’s new ‘game’, he knew without an ounce of doubt that Jimmy would be participating.

He figured it was just a bad day. He’d woken up more tired than the night before, his muscles hurt without reason and the weather seemed unusually chilly for the jungle. But there was nothing to worry about. He’d get over it.
For now, he still had a lot to do around his base. Sloshing through the ankle-deep water of his base, Etho carried his shulker full of building supplies to the foot of his cliff. At least the sun shone. There were only a few clouds dotted around the sky. It seemed an awfully good day to be having a bad day.
Though he knew his base like the back of his hand, he still missed the ledge of brick sticking out of the water. His foot caught on the edge. An undignified yell escaped his lips as he lost his balance. With a large splash and no grace whatsoever, he landed in the water.

Summary
Someone had to remind them never to utter the phrase ‘it can’t get any worse than this, can it?’ ever again. If they even had a chance to. Things could always get worse, and by asking that you’re only tempting fate.
If being sick for months didn’t rub that in their face already, the whole moon situation definitely did. By the time they could get out of bed with only a sore throat and a half-working voice leftover from the sickness, the moon loomed over the world. The world was disintegrating before their very eyes.
Or, Iskall is sick when the moon finally crashes onto the world but refuses to let that stop them from trying to save Etho

Summary
He shot onto his feet. Phone forgotten by the couch, he ran to the door and opened it. He was instantly greeted by the sight of his friend. Jimmy looked about as helpless and scared as he sounded on the phone, maybe even worse. Well, definitely worse. Tango couldn’t help but freeze and hold onto the handle as he looked over him.
Jimmy was coated from top to bottom in what he could only guess was blood. It had completely ruined his white shirt, discoloured his hair and the blood on his skin made his face pale as bone in comparison.
Or, Jimmy goes to the only place he can think of after some kind of accident and Tango helps him

Summary
Joel didn’t like thinking about it. He’d done his mourning, it was long past now. A thousand years. Exactly a thousand. While he’d always shoved the Rapture — the Great Cataclysm, the Tear, the Grand Fire, whatever people called it these days — to the back of his mind, he never stopped counting the days.
Maybe it was because of the anniversary of it or maybe it was just a bad week, but he’d barely slept the entire week leading up to it. The events, blurry as they were, replayed in his mind over and over.
Could he have done something differently? Could he have saved his friends somehow? Could he have kept them together? The could’ve, would’ve and should’ve’s popped into his mind faster than he could get rid of them. Why now, a thousand years later? He thought he’d moved on. Well, he hadn’t if the counting was anything to go by.

He hadn’t felt his feet in days, but he still walked so according to the bandits there was no reason to get him help. He had to keep working or risk an arrow between his eyes.
The wooden hammer had nearly frozen in his hands. The only thing keeping it from freezing stuck was the little warmth left in him. By the Gods, it was a miracle he still had warmth in him. It must’ve been a blessing from the Sun Princess, or that piece of him that was still connected to the mesa.
