Summary
Spencer Reid wakes up at 1 am, only an hour since he fell asleep, drenched in sweat, his sheets and blankets a knotted mess from his constant tossing and turning, and so horribly and completely empty.
He staggers to his feet, drifting into his bathroom as he follows some distant routine ingrained in his body after decades of insomnia and nightmares.
He takes off his shirt, staring blankly at his ghostly pale, scarred skin.
Even without his eidetic memory, he’s sure he’d remember all of his scars.-

Summary
The first thing he notices is the blood— not too much, but it’s there, staining the mat on the brunette’s floor, surrounded by smushed cigarettes and a razor blade.
He has to pry his eyes away from the mess that holds an impossible weight, finally noticing Spencer curled up on the floor of his bathtub, skin nearly blending into the white porcelain as he trembles under the spray of the shower.
“Hey, Pretty Boy, can you hear me?” The older agent kneels next to the tub, turning off the water before grabbing the nearest towel and draping it over the brunette’s shoulders.
Spencer’s lips move, voice barely audible, but he doesn’t need to speak for Derek to know what he’s saying.
‘I’m not weak.’

Summary
The night Spencer showed up at her doorstep still plays vividly in her mind, the brunette knocking on her door, soaking wet, in the middle of the night, almost catatonic.
She remembers the hours of sitting with him on her bathroom floor, trying to ground him and coax her friend out of his dissociative state, tears of frustration beginning to spill down her cheeks when his fingers grazed over the raised white lines on her wrists, and something besides the emptiness Emily had memorized after so long flashed in his eyes.
Nearly two decades old and barely visible, Emily’s come to terms with her scars and accepted them, and if touching them helped bring her friend back, she didn’t mind.-
