“When it gets like this, I usually just, uh-” Felix coughs, pulling away even further just to awkwardly fist the air, and even though Hyunjin smiles at the display, a pit of unease starts to form in the bottom of his stomach. “But! You don’t have to, like, do that if you don’t want to! It just felt weird to do it alone, y’know, if you’re here, but I didn’t really know how to bring it up because that’s kind of embarrassing-”
“You’re such a goofball sometimes,” Hyunjin says fondly, despite the dryness in his throat and the ice in his veins. He swallows, hiding all of those horrible feelings behind a mask of confidence. “But… would you like my help?”
“If you… don’t mind, I guess.”
For a moment, they just stare at each other, then the next moment they’re both bursting into giggles. It lessens the tension in the air enough that Hyunjin can finally breathe. This is Felix, and there’s nothing to be scared of.
It's the night before the big day - the Journey to Ossus that will decide Felix's fate in their clan - and the nerves are starting to get to him. Good thing Hyunjin's there to tire him out!
