Summary
Spider never names the bear—at least not out loud. Sully calls it Tommy-Bear sometimes, which Spider refuses to touch or even think about. Quaritch seems to feel the same way; the closest he comes to acknowledging it is a brush of his hand over Sully's hair or down his kuru when he says it. He doesn't have a name for the bear, just calls it your bear or your teddy.
It stays in their quarters. The day after Quaritch gave it to him, Spider tosses it on the floor and kicks it under the bed while Sully and Quaritch are in the shower. He hopes they'll forget about it and he'll never have to look at it again. But when the three of them return to their quarters in the evening, the bear is tucked under the covers, its floppy body leaning back against the pillows. "Look," Sully says, squeezing Spider's hand. "He was waiting for you."

Summary
"Nuh-uh," he says. "Tommy-Bear's my friend now, baby, until he forgives you for what you did to him."
For a moment, he thinks he's about to get a tantrum from Spider, one of those screaming and clawing fits that end with everyone grumpy and exhausted, with a punishment on the horizon. He sighs, steeling himself for it, ready to grab Spider's hands to keep him from hurting himself, because it's always a toss-up for whether he'll be trying to scratch their eyes from their skulls or tear his own hair out.
But Spider just looks down and away and nods, a short sharp movement. "Okay," he says. "I'm sorry." His voice is still so small, and Jake wants to scoop him up and bundle him away, somewhere only he and Quaritch can touch him, love him, keep him safe, show him how much he means to them.
