Ever since Mafuyu stopped putting up her façade around 25-ji, Nightcord de., Mizuki felt as though they were two kindred spirits (or more like two sides of the same coin), even if Mafuyu may not share that sentiment. Whatever it may be, they wanted to stay by her side, find out more about her, really understand her.
Or, when Mizuki invites Mafuyu to a mall date, she ends up finding a piece of herself along the way.

Summary
Mizuki was lucky to have gotten support back then, even during the thick of it all. And even if they hadn't received support, at least they knew for themselves who they really are. Mafuyu’s struggles stem from the fact she barely knows herself. Even if Mizuki is too chicken to outright say who they are, if they can use what they know to help Mafuyu, it’ll be worth it.
A bout of conviction rushes through their veins.
‘You don't have to live like that. I’ll make sure of it. Promise me you won't let yourself suffer just to please others, Mafuyu.’
Or, Mizuki trying to help Mafuyu brings back many more memories than they first would have expected.

Summary
Mafuyu’s hand is bathed in golden light when it reaches to place itself over Mizuki’s own. And when they look at him, no longer a mere reflection providing distance, their eyes immediately dart all around the expression on his face, mind racing with interpretations of what he could be thinking, the judgements undeniably being made at that very second— But they ultimately realize the futility in their actions. There’s nothing for Mizuki to find.
The way he stares up at them in a silent question… This is him making an open display of care for them.
He's open. Frighteningly so. But it makes sense, Mafuyu hasn't kept secrets from them in ages. That very openness, though entirely puzzling to the boy himself, is what has aided him all this time. This is someone Mizuki can open their heart to.
Or, Mizuki and Mafuyu find understanding in each other.
