Summary
The Soldier cries out in rage. Not fear. Never fear, not in those dead eyes that stare blankly back at Steve. Eyes that are precisely the same color as Bucky’s, the same stormy blue that used to twinkle with mischief and melt Steve into a puddle, now cold and lifeless.
Dead eyes in his dead lover’s face.
Steve hardens his heart and twists his arm, throwing the Soldier to the ground and pulling the man’s right arm back at an impossible angle. Pulling the limb towards him and feeling the bone give against the socket as he bears down with all his weight. The Soldier struggles, but Steve is just too strong, the leverage too great.
“Drop it!” he shouts, even as the Soldier tries to swipe at him. “Drop it!”
Please don’t make me do this. Please don’t make me hurt you.-or-Steve's train of thought as he is forced to choke out Bucky on the Helicarrier

Summary
Bucky is standing there in the doorway. Leaning in the doorway. Against it, as if he barely has the strength to remain on his feet. Steve can’t see Bucky’s eyes, but he can see his shoulders heaving with labored breaths. He’s dressed in sodden jeans and a hoodie, his hair plastered to his face and neck. He’s shivering.
“B-Buck?”
“Stevie?” Bucky lifts his head, and Steve can see that his pupils are dilated, even in the light from the porch. He’s so pale. “I-I’m sorry. I don’t…I didn’t know where else to go.”
In two steps Steve is there next to him, but when he goes to pull Bucky’s arm over his shoulder, the brunette flinches away.
“Okay, okay.” Holding his hands up like he’s trying to calm a spooked horse, Steve steps aside. “Let’s just get you inside and out of that rain, okay?”-or- After the Helicarrier, Bucky shows up at Steve's house in need of help.

Summary
Bucky’s just staring at him in that closed-off way again, the one that gives Steve no clue as to what’s going on in his head. He seems to be waiting for something.
Steve decides to push, just a little bit.
He picks up a washcloth and kneels next to the tub. Bucky swallows thickly, but he doesn’t flinch this time. He dips it into the water, and raises it to Bucky’s chest, close but not touching. “Is it…is this okay?”
Bucky nods faintly. He’s trembling again. His eyes flutter shut as the cloth touches his skin and he exhales shakily, but he doesn’t pull away.-or- Steve cares for Bucky after the Helicarrier.
